Germany extreme – extremism from the right and left
Burning cars and barricades, water cannons and street fighting – at the latest with the images of the violent protests against the G20 summit in Hamburg in the summer of 2017, the extreme left made a comeback. Since the discovery of the NSU in 2011 and the beginning of the refugee crisis in 2015, all politically motivated violence seemed to come mainly from the right. Currently, the Office for the Protection of the Constitution is noting a strengthening of the extreme left and extreme right. Above all, the growth of the violence-oriented spectrums worries politicians and security authorities. “We don’t have things under control in any area,” says Federal Interior Minister Horst Seehofer.
